Porsche yesterday officially revealed its new 911 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The most obvious modification comes in the form of a wider wheelbase, stretched 3.9 inches to 96.5 inches. Other cosmetic touches include bigger LED headlamps, redesigned front apron, and wider side-view mirrors. On the backside are wraparound LED taillights and a re-engineered spoiler.
Speaking of the backside, powering the beast is a 350 horsepower (400 HP if you opt for the Carrera S) rear-mounted flat six-cylinder engine. Porsche claims the car will zip from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. A seven-speed dual clutch slushbox or a seven-speed manual — the world’s first — will handle shifting.
When it goes on sale in February the 911 will cost $82,100 for the Carrera or $96,400 for the Carrera S. —Daniel Dumas
